“The master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house”

– Audre Lorde –

Black. Lesbian. Mother. Warrior. Poet

White Heteronormative Patriarchy is a very real and powerful hierarchical system of oppression that continues to operate within the modern colonial construct of society.

This results in the killing of the innocent, displacement from ancestral lands, and destruction of culture, language, and healthy roles for men in society. What results in structural inequities related to poverty, social marginalization, lateral violence, intergenerational trauma, cycles of violence, and addictions.

We stand for George Floyd.                           We stand for Colten Boushie.

                   Breonna Taylor.                                              Chantel Moore.

                   Regis Korchinski-Paquet                                   Rodney Levi.

These are just a few names alongside a countless list of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) brothers and sisters, who have been and continue to be victims of toxic, hostile, and inhumane police brutality,  perpetuated by a culture of white supremacy, a result of systemic racism embedded in our society and our institutions.

We recognize that the Criminal Justice systems in both the USA and Canada continue to have Black and Indigenous peoples overrepresented at every level. Meanwhile, education, housing, banking, media, and healthcare systems continue to favour the experiences and voices of historically dominant white-settler communities over those of Black, Indigenous, and new migrant communities.

While we are but a small organization, we are and will always remain committed to deconstructing colonial conceptions of gender roles, masculinity, community belonging, and a hierarchy-driven and pathologizing western medical model. We do this together with our partner organizations, communities, facilitators, participants, and elders.

We remain committed to prioritizing cultural competence and safety, dismantling discrimination, genuine connections, acceptance and support as tools for rebuilding our communities.

“How is it that a 64-year-old Black outreach worker from South-Central Los Angeles; a 56-year-old xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Elder; a 52-year-old Two-Spirited Tall Cree community advocate; and, a 30-year-old White doctor came together to build this Dudes Club program?

It's because there is no judgement in our house.
Because it is as it should be: We are one people. “

– Dr. Paul Gross –

Co-Founder / Medical Director

We will stand together.
